Winter Storm Love

Oh that was a good sleep. Mind you, I had to prepare a cocktail of clonazepam, tylenol, and benadryl to get there, but I got there. Alas, now I am in a moderate drug coma where opening my eyes/moving my hands to type seems to be an epic battle.

Plus I dreamed that I was running around France...how cool is that?

We had a snow storm last night so that will inspire my list of favorite things about Winter and the storms that come with it (click on photos for links).

Self-made reading nooks! I'd much rather have an old-fashioned one, but in a pinch this one will do.

My boyfriend! As he is super cuddly and nice to me...and we can curl up in front of the tv together when storms are happening.

Candles. I have a little tea light holder from the dollar store that is in constant use with a rotation of the jumbo packs of tea light candles that you can buy.
Hats to keep your head warm. Particularly of the flapper and beret variety. They are my faves :).

Quilts. I love mine and spend all of my time on the couch with it wrapped around me...not only for warmth, but for beauty.
Colored tights! And while we're at it...Gossip Girl isn't too shabby either.

Hot chocolate. Coffee. Starbucks lattes, which fall somewhere between the two. Tea. Anything hot beverage related and I'm in heaven.

Other things include:
  • Watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer reruns.
  • Sitting in the dark with my Christmas tree lights on.
  • Taking a walk in the snowstorm to feel how tiny I am in relation to the universe.
  • Eating soups.
  • Wearing oversized sweaters.
On that note, I am going to shower and prepare to go learn more about the iPod.

Much love!

Cross Stitch Love

I have not slept for more than a 2 hour stretch in a solid month now. It's getting ridiculous. If I take my pills for it, I have constant migraines that cannot be relieved by any over the counter pain medications (and TRUST ME, I'VE TRIED). If I don't, I'm either a) a complete nutcase or b) a dragging-my-feet zombie. Grr...I may have to watch more episodes of Intervention on A&E just so I can raise my general self-esteem.

Work is...what it is (aka iPod support). I'm in a teeny-tiny training group (haha, go alliteration!). I am the only female and it's definitely slow until you get out on the floors. Sleep-inducing slow perhaps...maybe I can get a doctor's note that I should be sent there in order to fall asleep on the table, as it sure as hell isn't going to happen here. On the plus side, I am totally packing goodies tonight to keep me entertained. And maybe 7.7 sweaters as it's FREEZING in there. I have Raynaud's syndrome as it is, and being stationary in there even bundled up to my neck left me with the inability to feel any of my fingers and toes.

I debated making a list of things I would rather do than be at work (e.g. - sit on the couch with tea and blog, be eaten to death by crocodiles, etc...) but that seemed a little extreme so I'm going to give it a few days.

I'm going to go back to my needlepoint like the little-old-lady I am. Some pretty cross-stitch pictures to admire (click on photo for link, as until I rewrite a website I can't change the width of this column!):

I LOVE THIS ONE!!

By the way, mine is not even remotely as cool as these are.

xoxo,
Annie

New Job

Well that was excruciating.

Off To Workland

It's my first day of work!!!

I'm not as excited as those three exclamation points make me seem. I'd go back and edit it but I really am just too lazy.

As a result of waking up late and desperately needing:
  1. Coffee
  2. Makeup
  3. Lunch
  4. Not to be nauseous from these drugs
  5. and general organizational capacities
I will leave you with pictures I took of (Starbucks) and then the apartment.

xoxo,
Annie

New Week - Productive Mondays

Morning, morning, morning, morning, morning!!!

I got sick and tired of laying in bed (not sleeping) and being sick and tired. I have always had a hard time dealing with the idea of having bipolar disorder, but I think I'm coming around to being comfortable with all my odd little illnesses. You'd think after so many stays in the hospital I would have my head on straight by now. Meh, I think I will screw it on right here eventually.

I think I may have taken that head as a bottle cap metaphor a bit too far there haha.

I'm still debating buying a domain name, especially now that I will spend so much time on the Internet being at work and all. I keep finding bloggers to idolize and most of them have made the jump in order to be able to customize a bit more.

I have a to-do list for today about a mile long so I think it is about time I start the coffee. I finished buying and wrapping all of my Christmas gifts yesterday though! I'm turning into a productive little machine. Well, I suppose I'm not miniature-technological-robot little, but in terms of general comparative human size.

Shout out to my parents in Las Vegas who probably don't even read this blog but should!!

Now for funny pics courtesy of XKCD, Threadless Tees Images, and random Internet findings.

Officially Winter Now

First big snowfall of the year today. I got nailed by a snowball to the face by my beloved boyfriend. I may have to demote him from being beloved now haha.

I'm watching the movie Precious. It's making me thankful for just about everything in my life. This movie could function as both a perfect pick me up when you want to prove to yourself that it can always be worse, or an absolute dismal source of depression when you think of the horrible and manipulative nature of humans.

Jon's Haiku about Precious:

tragic pregnant girl
triumphs over parents' abuse
touching tale for all

He makes me laugh.

I've had to start up on a drug I'm not a particularly big fan of again. I tried and tried and tried to avoid it, but sometimes these things just end up out of your control. As a result, I'm moderately sleepy and dopey.

Soon we're going to have two incomes!!! EEEEEE so excited to be able to buy things. Like new comforters for the bed. As we are ghetto-ish with the 10+ year old bed.

Also, Bent Objects is absolutely hilarious and I highly recommend everyone go over there for a pick-me-up.

List Time! Things That Suck

Well so much for the leisurely but poor lifestyle of my unemployment.

I went out and procured myself a job yesterday, and got virtually nothing on my to-do list done otherwise. Well, I bought a Pyrex casserole dish, but it doesn't count as a thing as it makes me feel 50, instead of the spry young woman that I am. Ha. Spry. Like that ever happens. It's 5:16 a.m. on my second night of not sleeping. Not feeling super spry.

ANYWAY,

Enough about that. The job is at a call center. Good to know all of my extensive education is being put to ultimate creative usage. On the plus side, even more of my time will be spend wandering the Internet!

So on that note, I think it's time for an early morning list to follow up the lovely combo of painkillers and relaxants I just took:

Things That Suck (in no particular order...)
  • People who are mean
  • People who are close-minded (so upsetting!)
  • Money wasted on cigarettes (although I've been known to do it in the past...)
  • NOT SLEEPING
  • Having to pay bills/subsequently work to pay bills
  • Illness
  • On a lesser note, periods.
  • THE FACT THAT MY EYES FEEL LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO BURN OUT OF MY HEAD
  • Food epically stuck on pans that boyfriend leaves not in the sink
  • Traffic...road rage anyone?
  • Not being able to go anywhere without a passport.
  • The lack of self-discipline to spend less time online and more time doing productive things...like cooking, cleaning, and having a life hahahaha.
  • Immature adults who don't warn you about the fact that their business is going to fold.
  • Shipping costs with UPS
  • Not being able to be magically good at things without hard, old-fashioned work.
  • Cankers. Ow.
  • Having Celiac Disease and watching other people eat pizza. I don't know why pizza is always the one that gets the envy in me going, but my god, I practically want to maul them for it.
  • Slow Internet! Anytime I'm brought near anything that's not high-speed and wifi, I gag a little in my mouth.
  • How lonely it is at night while everyone else sleeps.
  • Cystic acne. Like come on, I'm not in my teenage years anymore!
  • Milk. Oddly enough, that stuff turns my stomach.
  • Advertisements on the radio. I know, I know, this stuff has to get paid for somehow. But nothing will ruin your groove faster than a series of ads for things in which you have absolutely no interest.
  • Hunger. This is currently in expression as to how I feel right now. It could be remedied but seems like it would take a fair amount of effort.
  • Judgment from other people. My life may not be as stereotypical as some, but that doesn't mean it's any less important or that I'm an epic weirdo. Well the last part might be true, but who cares? I've still found people that like me.
Well that was a reasonably large rant. I am such a list addict.

Speaking of which, GREAT LINK for you if you haven't checked this out already.

And just for fun, two things that amuse me:
